Cheranalloore Bhagavathy temple

This is more than a temple for me.. Bhagavathi, more than a goddess.

My relationship with Bhagavathy dates back to my childhood days. Days that I still vividly remember, due to the colour of thoughts, the nostalgia it carries.

It is said that god manifest in different forms for his devotee based on how he or she perceive that energy. For me Bhagavathi was like a mother, a mother that a child calls when he is happy and also when he is sad.

She was my local guardian, my caretaker since my biological mother was away, for work.

I still remember the temple visits. Walking through the evening sand on both sides of pradakshina vazhi.

It was one heck of an experience. The sand and pebbles after soaking in the sun’s radiation throughout the day emits it back in the evening . The moment when you step on it, the heat gets absorbed to your feet giving you a blissful massage, the pebbles in the sand just kisses your feet as if they adore you.

Every such temple visits was an act of liberation and a favorite daily routine . Some time away from text books, some time away from the eyes of family, basking in the evening sun., just you and amma, just you and nature.. just you and the mild breeze that accompanies throughout the walk.

My bhagavathy was a trustworthy friend who patiently listen to all my problems. Just like a friend who show empathy and gives you a shoulder at bad times. I could share anything and everything.

When you stand in front of the sreekovil, that divine energy which surrounds you, which touches your soul, every drop of you surrenders in front of that supreme power..

It is definitely an inexplicable feeling, a magical one indeed. By the time you step out of the temple you feel quite light.. a feeling of defying gravity. A sense of protection that lingers on for hours to come.. Such deluge of thoughts..
